Ceppl Funding Opportunities

There is currently no Ceppl funding available as our HEFCE funding will cease in December 2010. Please see below for examples of the strands of funding previously offered.

Research in Practice: Personal and professional development opportunities with the Ceppl and NHS Plymouth

The Ceppl and NHS Plymouth recognise the benefits of rewarding staff and enhancing patient care. This is continually being evidenced by outputs from the Ceppl`s development activities and innovation funds and the new partnership between the Ceppl and NHS Plymouth`s Research in Practice Awards. In order to widen the influence that rewarding staff can achieve the Ceppl and NHS Plymouth are offering a new stream of funding entitled "Research in Practice: Personal and Professional Development opportunities". These funds are aimed at individuals who actively enhance practice through research and evaluation and can include NHS Plymouth staff from any discipline who have an interest in research informed practice. Funds can be used in a variety of ways which may ultimately benefit the organisation, NHS staff and the users of the service.

These include:

  • Conference attendance
  • Funding a place on a course
  • Buying software/books to support your role
  • Supporting an evaluation or similar exercise aimed at improving the service

This list is not exhaustive and individual requests will be considered on their merit, but all must relate to improving service delivery.

A sum of money has been allocated to support this stream and staff can apply for funds of up to £500.

The award scheme will run between January and March 2010 or until funds are exhausted. Applications should be made using the request for Staff Development Funds, which can be downloaded from the right hand side of this page, and should be returned to ceppl@plymouth.ac.uk by the 1st of each month starting January 2010. For informal enquiries or further information, please contact Mary McClarey, Head of Clinical Effectiveness and Research, NHS Plymouth at mary.mcclarey@plymouth.nhs.uk. Successful applicants will be expected to report back on how their funding was used and the benefits gained which will be circulated via the Ceppl website.
